Unit 7 Vocabulary

Radical Expression An expression that contains a radical.
Imaginary Number A number that is expressed in terms of the square root of a negative number.
Complex Number A number written in the form a + bi, where a and b are real numbers including zero.
Quadratic Function A function that can be written in the form y = ax(squared) + bx +c. where a cannot equal zero.
Standard Form of a Quadratic Function y = ax(squared) + bx + c
Parabola The graph of a quadratic function.
Axis of Symmetry The line that divides the parabola into two matching halves.
Vertex The highest or lowest point of a parabola.
Minimum Vertex The lowest point of the parabola.
Maximum Vertex The highest point of the parabola
Vertex Form of a Quadratic Function y = a(x-h)(squared) + k
