Jake works at a factory. He makes $.10 for each widget he assembles. The production rate is 75 widgets/hour. What is his gross pay for an 8 hour shift? $60
What is income? The money you earn from a job or get by another source.
What is pay period? The length of time for which an employee's wages are calculated.
What is gross pay? The amount of money earned per hour of work.
What is hourly wage? The amount of money your earn per hour.
What is piece rate? When the worker is paid a fixed rate for each item produced.
What is overtime? The amount of time a person works beyond 40 hours in work week.
What is overtime pay? Pay for work beyond 40 hours in work week that is at least one and one-half times the regular rate.
