Geometry Vocab

Polygon A closed figure with straight sides
Quadrilateral A 4 sided polygon
Trapezoid A quadrilateral with at least 1 pair of parallel sides
Parallelogram A quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides
Rectangle A quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides and right angles
Rhombus A quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides that are equal length
Square A quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides that are equal length and have right angles
Kite A quadrilateral that has 2 pairs of equal length sides
Right Angle Exactly 90 degrees
Opposite angles on a parallelogram... are the same measure
Adjacent angles on a parallelogram... are next to each other and add up to 180 degrees
The sum of the angles of a quadrilateral 360 degrees
Parallel Lines You can extend them forever and they'll never cross
Perpendicular Lines Cross at a 90 degree angle
Pentagon A polygon with 5 sides
Hexagon A polygon with 6 sides
Octagon A polygon with 8 sides
Acute Angle Less than 90 degrees
Obtuse Angle More than 90 degrees
Equilateral Triangle All sides and angles are equal
Scalene Triangle All sides and angles are different
Isosceles Triangle 2 sides and angles are equal, the third is different
