GMetrix Vocabulary Chapter 3 Excel

average a function that averages the numbers in a range
active cell the cell that is currently highlighted and ready to receive or manipulate data
spreadsheet a software application which arranges data in rows and columns
workbook a spreadsheet file which contains worksheets
Boolean Operators simple words such as AND, OR or NOT which are used in formulas to sort or filter data
count a function that counts the entries in a range but does not total the entries
cells the single rectangular box which text or data can be inserted into
columns a series of cells which run vertically from top to bottom of a spreadsheet
formula a set of mathematical instructions that adds, subtracts, multiplies, or divides that entered data
range a selected group or block of cells; the set of values that a given function can take as its argument varies
MAX a function that contains the highest value contained in a range
MIN a function that finds the lowest value contained in a range
rows a series of cells which run horizontally from left to right on a spreadsheet
SUM a function that adds numbers in a selected range
sort a process used in a spreadsheet or database to get information arranged systematically in groups
merge an option which combines two or more cells
