Term | Definition |
---|---|
Congruent | same shape and same size |
Similar | same shape different size (having proportional sizes) |
Non-congruent | may have the same shape but different size |
Quadrilaterals | A closed two-dimensional figure with four sides that are line segments |
Parallelogram | A quadrilateral whose opposite sides are parallel and opposite angles are congruent |
Rectangle | A parallelogram with four right angles |
Bisect | To divide into two equal parts |
Square | A rectangle with four congruent sides or a rhombus with four right angles |
Rhombus | A parallelogram with four congruent sides |
Trapezoid | A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides (parallel sides are called bases, and the non-parallel sides are called legs) |
Isosceles Trapezoid | A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides. If the legs have the same length. |
Kite | A quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent congruent sides. One pair of opposite angles is congruent. |
