Materials and shadows

TermDefinition
Rectilinear Propagation of light Light is a form of energy and it travels in a straight line (Ray Model of Light)
Opaque This type of object prevents any light from passing through it.
Transparent This type of object allows light to pass through freely.
Translucent This type of object allows some of the rays to pass through, but the rays are scattered in all directions
Transmitted When light passes straight through an object
Obsorb When light gets trapped in an object
Reflect When light bounces off an object
Ray model of light Light is a form of energy and it travels in a straight line (rectilinear propagation of light)
Source of light An object that emits light
Shadow An area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object.
Ray It is a straight line with an arrowhead showing direction of light.
Opaque This object will only absorb or reflect light
Transparent Only a small amount of light is absorbed or reflected by this object
Translucent Example Parchment paper
