Math Vocabulary

TermDefinition
perimeter the distance around an object
area the number of square units needed to cover a surface
volume the amount of space a 3-D object takes up; measured in cubic units
chord a line segment connecting any two points on a circle
diameter a line segment that connects two points on a circle and goes through the center
radius a line segment from the center of a circle to any point on the circle
circumference the distance around a circle
isosceles triangle a triangle with two equal sides
parallelogram a quadrilateral in which both pairs of opposite sides are parallel.
scalene triangle a triangle with no equal sides
