TermDefinition
alternate interior angles When two lines are crossed by another line (the Transversal), a pair of angles on each of those two lines, on opposite sides of the transversal. But inside those two lines are alternate interior angles.
alternate exterior angles alternate exterior angles are defined as two exterior angles on opposite sides of a transversal which lie on different parallel lines.
parabola a symmetrical open plane curve formed by the intersection of a cone with a plane parallel to its side.
evaluate find a numerical expression or equivalent for (an equation, formula, or function).
absolute value of a complex number The absolute value of a complex number , a + b is defined as the distance between the origin and the point in the complex plane.
alternate angles two angles, not adjoining one another, that are formed on opposite sides of a line that intersect two other lines. If the original two lines are parallel, the alternate angles are equal.
algebraic numbers any complex number (real numbers too) that is a root of a non-zero polynomial (i.e., a value which causes the polynomial to equal 0) in one variable with rational coefficients or equivalently – by clearing denominators – with integer coefficients.
constant term a constant is a number on its own, or sometimes a letter such as a, b or c to stand for a fixed number.
slope slope is a measure of the steepness of a line, or a section of a line, connecting two points.
transformation transformation refers to the movement of objects in the coordinate plane.
function a relationship or expression involving one or more variables
formula a mathematical relationship or rule expressed in symbol
mean ¨average¨ add all numbers then divide by number of numbers there are
additive inverse additive inverse of a number a is the number that, when added to a, stops zero
area area of a flat, or plane figure is the number of unit squares that can be contained within it
coefficient a numerical or constant quantity placed before and multiplying the variable in an algebraic expression
linear inequality a linear inequality is an inequality which involves a linear function
ordered pair a pair of elements used for graphing
parallel lines parallel lines are two lines that are always the same distance apart and never touch
adjacent angles two angles are adjacent when they have a common side and a common corner point and don't overlap.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
