Text Structure Review

Text Structure The way an author organizes nonfiction information
Description Text Structure When the topic is described in detail with lots of features and characteristics
Compare and Contrast Text Structure When the topic is compared to another topic with similarities and differences outlined
Sequence Text Structure Informational text that is presented in a specific order, whether with dates or transition words (first, next, finally, etc.)
Problem and Solution Text Structure Informational text that shares a problem related to your topic and presents solutions to fix the problem
Cause and Effect Text Structure Informational text that explains how one event leads to another
Description Graphic Organizer Bubble Map (topic in the center with descriptions in the outer bubbles)
Compare and Contrast Graphic Organizer Venn Diagram (two intersecting circles)
Problem and Solution Graphic Organizer Flow Map (first box states problem, has arrow pointing to box with solution(s))
