variable | a letter that represents a number |
constant | a symbol which always stands for the same number |
substituting | replacing a variable with a constant |
terms | numbers that are added and subtracted |
factors | numbers that are multiplied together |
equation | a sentence which says that one expression is equal to another expression |
left member | the expression on the left side |
right member | the expression on the right side |
solution | a number you can substitute for the variable that makes the sentence true |
transform | to do the same operation to each member of the equation |
