Government A body or group that rules a nation, state, or community
State/Nation Technically, a state or nation is the same thing. They have gov’t, people, and borders.
Republic A type of government where people elect their leaders; a representative democracy (United States)
totalitarian A type of government with a dictatorship; rule by one person (North Korea)
Democracy A government where people (citizens) have the power/voice
Representative democracy A republic; a government ruled by its citizens through elections
Direct Democracy A democracy where ALL citizens participate in government equally; There are no elections because all citizens have a voice and participate in all governing.
dictatorship A government ruled by one; totalitarian (North Korea)
oligarchy A government ruled by a few
theocracy A government ruled by a religious leader (Ex: Pope and the Vatican City)
