Occupation Zone the area of central Germany occupied by the Soviet Union from 1945 on, at the end of WWII
Superpower a state with a dominant position in the international system which has the ability to influence events and its own interests and project power on a worldwide scale to protect those interests
Cold War state of conflict between nations that does not involve direct military action but is pursued primarily through economic and political actions, propaganda, acts of espionage or proxy wars waged by surrogates
