Properties of Quadrilaterals

Polygon A closed figure with all sides composed of line segments.
Quadrilateral Four sided polygon Sum of interior angles is 360 degrees
Kite Exactly two distinct pairs of adjacent, congruent sides. Diagonals are perpendicular. One diagonal divides the quadrilateral into two congruent triangles. The other diagonal divides the quadrilateral into two isosceles triangles.
Trapezoid Exactly one pair of parallel sides.
Isosceles Trapezoid One pair of parallel sides called bases. One pair of congruent sides called legs. Each pair of base angles is congruent. Diagonals are congruent.
Parallelogram Opposite sides are parallel. Opposite sides are congruent. Opposite angles are congruent. Consecutive angles are supplementary. Diagonals bisect each other. Each diagonal divides the quadrilateral into two congruent triangles.
Rectangle Opposite sides are congruent. Opposite sides are parallel. All angles are right. All diagonals are congruent.
Rhombus All sides are congruent Diagonals are perpendicular. Diagonals bisect opposite angles.
Square All sides are congruent. Opposite sides are parallel. All angles are right. Diagonals are congruent. Diagonals are perpendicular. diagonals bisect opposite angles.
