Classification

QuestionAnswer
Classification the process of naming or classifying something according to shared characteristics.
Organism the material structure of a living life form.
Diversity A range of different things.
Characteristics a quality describing a person, place, or thing serving to identify it.
Dichotomous key a tool that allows the you to determine the identity of items in the natural world. Keys consist of a series of choices that lead you to the correct name of the given item.
Taxonomy the branch of science concerned with classification, especially of organisms or the classification of something
Domain specified knowledge and activity
Six kingdom system Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protista, Archaea/Archaeabacteria , and Bacteria/Eubacteria
Microorganism A microscopic organism
Single Celluar contains only one cell. Also known as unicelluar
Multi Celluar An organism that is Made up of many cells rather than just one
Prokaryotic a microscopic single-celled organism that does not have a nucleus with a membrane or other specialized organelles.
Eurokarytic a microscopic multi celled organism that DOES have a nucleus with a membrane and organelles
Aurotroph An organism that can make his own food by the process of photosynthesis
Heterotroph An organism that CANNOT make its own food. It must find or hunt for food
Decomposer an organism that decomposes organic material.
Carnivore An organism that eats meat/flesh and has to hunt for food
herbivore An organism that eats only plants
Omnivore An organism that eats both, meat/flesh and plants
Detritivore an animal that feeds on dead organic materia
Insectivore an insectivorous animal or plant.
Phylogeny the branch of biology that deals with phylogenesis.
