| satire | a literary technique in which ideas or customs are ridiculed for the purpose of improving society |
| synecdoche | a form of metaphor in which a part represent the whole |
| tone | the attitude a writer takes toward a subject |
| theme | an observation that the writer is making about human experience |
| third person limited point of view | the story is told by a narrative voice outside the action, not by one of the characters. It tells what a limited amount of characters think, feel and observe. |
| third person omniscient point of view | narrator is outside the story and all-knowing |
