Graph Skills 1. During what ten year period did the Native American Population decline the least? Between 1870 and 1880.
Geo. Skills on page 544. Do 1 & 2. 1. In which state did the Battle of Little BIghorn take place? 2. Which Native American nations resettled in present-day Oklahoma? 1. The Battle of Little Bighorn took Place in Montana. 2. Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek Chickasaw, Comanche, and Arapaho.
In Section Assesment, do 1, 4, 5 & 6.
1. Vocabulary. Nomadic and reservation. Nomadic: moving from place to place with no permanent home. Reservation: an area of public lands set aside for Native Americans.
4. Give three ways the government reservation policy ignored the needs of Native American's. 1. Many of the reservations, were set on poor land. 2. The government promised food and goods, but failed to keep their promise. 3. Good that they did get from the government were in bad condition.
5. Did the Dawes Act reflect an effort by the United States government to change Native American life? If so, how? 1. Yes, they made the Dawes Act, give the Native Americans pieces of land, and ecourage them to become farmers, and eventually American citizens.
6. Look at the map on page 544. When did the Battle of Wounded Knee occur? Where were the Shoshone reservations located? 1. The battle took place in 1890. 2. They were located in Wyoming and Oregon.
