Legislative branch branch of government that makes laws.

filibuster a political procedure where one or more members of parliament or congress debate over a proposed piece of legislation.
constituents a member of a constituency.
census the procedure of systematically acquiring and recording information about the members of a given population.
conference committee United States Congress appointed by the House of Representatives and Senate to resolve disagreements on a particular bill
joint session a gathering of members of the two chambers of the bicameral legislature of the federal government of the United States: the Senate and the House of Representatives.
implied powers powers not explicitly named in the Constitution but assumed to exist due to their being necessary to implement the expressed powers
minority party a political party whose electoral strength is so small as to prevent its gaining control of a government except in rare and exceptional circumstances.
lobbyist the act of attempting to influence the actions, policies, or decisions of officials in their daily life, most often legislators or members of regulatory agencies.
checks and balances making sure that no branch is getting higher than the others.
interest groups a group of people that seeks to influence public policy on the basis of a particular common interest or concern.
cloture a procedure for ending a debate and taking a vote.
bill a proposed legislation under consideration by a legislature.
expulsion the act of making someone of membership in an organization leave.
