Expressions Vocab
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Exponent | a quantity representing the power to which a given number or expression is to be raised, usually expressed as a raised symbol beside the number or expression |
Terms | In Algebra, a term is either a single number or variable, or numbers and variables multiplied together. Terms are separated by + or − signs |
Base | The number that is going to be raised to a power |
Squared | To multiply a number by itself or to the second power |
Variable | A symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y |
Cubed | The third power of a quantity |
Coefficient | The number that comes before a variable |
Divisor | The number you divide by |
