What is Grammar

What is grammar? Grammar is a way of thinking about language.
What are the four levels of grammar? The four levels of grammar are: Parts of Speech, Parts of a Sentence, Phrases, and Clauses.
What is the definition for the parts of speech? The parts of speech are the eight kinds of words in our language.
List the parts of speech. The eight parts of speech are: preposition, adverb, verb, pronoun, adjective, noun, interjection, and conjunction.
What is a noun? A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.
What are the two main kinds of nouns? The two main kinds of nouns are common and proper.
What is a pronoun? A pronoun is a word that replaces a noun.
What are the two main types of pronouns? The two main types of pronouns are subject pronouns and object pronouns.
What is an adjective? An adjective is a word that modifies a noun or pronoun.
What is a verb? A verb is a word that shows action, being, or links a subject to a subject compliment.
What is an adverb? An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
What is a preposition? A preposition is a word that shows the relationship between its object with another word in the sentence.
What is a conjunction? A conjunction is a word that joins two words or two groups of words.
What are the coordinating conjunctions? The coordinating conjunctions are: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so.
What is an interjection? An interjection is a word that shows emotion.
What are the main parts of a sentence? The main parts of a sentence are the subject and the predicate.
What is a direct object? A direct object is a noun or object pronoun that receives the action of the action verb.
What is an indirect object? An indirect object is a noun or object pronoun that is indirectly affected by the action of the action verb.
Where is the indirect object located? The indirect object is located between the action verb and the direct object.
