Tynkercad

3D Modeling

TermDefinition
3D modeling software a computer program (such as Tinkercad, SkechUp) to create, modify or improve graphic designs of physical objects.
3D an object that has height, width, and depth. Is it 1D, 2D or 3d?
prototype a sample or model of a product that is built as a test to be learned from or copied
Open Source software or designs that are freely available and can be accessed, distributed, and modified by anyone
2D a shape that has width and height, but no thickness or depth.
Tinkercad 3D open source program for creating, modifying 3D designs ( we use it in class)
Group Tool Tinkercad tool for joining two or more shapes in order to make a hole in the shape(s)
Align tool Tinkercad tool that allows you to place two or more shapes evenly
Public file 3D file visible to anyone who has the Tinkercad link
CTRL-Z Keyboard shortcut to undo work in Tinkercad
CTRL-D Keyboard shortcut that duplicates a shape in Tinkercad ( it can also allow you to make patterns)
.stl extension of a file that can be 3D printed
Millimeter default unit of measurement for objects in Tinkercad
svg you can add files ( images) with this extension in your Tinkercad design
gallery Link you click in Tinkercad so you can see other people's designs.
CTRL-C Copy objects keyboard shortcut
CTRL-V Paste objects using a keyboard shortcut
White square dot Clicking and dragging this dot lets you resize both the width and height at the same time. It will also show you dimensions of both sides.
Black square dot Clicking and dragging this dot lets you resize one side of the shape
lock use this feature if you need to lock an object as it is and don't need to change its color or modify it anymore
inch you can change the default unit of measuring objects to this
