TermDefinition
Absolute Value A number's distance from zero.
Inequality A relationship between quantities that are not equal.
Integer Negative and positive whole numbers including 0.
Percent Parts per 100.
Ratio A comparison of two quantities by division.
Rational Numbers A number that can be written as a fraction.
Reciprocal Flipping the numerator and denominator of a fraction.
Unit Rate A quantity of one unit.
Area The number of square units needed to cover a surface.
Nets A two dimensional figure that can be folded to form a solid.
Origin The point where the x and y axis intersect (0,0).
Polygon An enclosed, many sided figure with straight lines.
Prism Three dimensional figure made up identical ends and flat faces.
Quadrants The four regions of the coordinate plane.
Surface Area The sum of the areas of the faces of a 3D figure.
Volume The number of cubic units contained in a three-dimensional object.
Distributive Property Multiply a sum by multiplying each addend separately and then add the products.
Expression Numbers, symbols and/or operations grouped together that show the value of something.
Equation A number sentence that uses an equal sign.
Exponent A number that indicates how many times a number is used as a factor.
Variable A letter that takes the place of an unknown number.
Mean The average of a set of numbers.
Median The middle number when the numbers are arranged from least to greatest in a set of data.
Mode The most repeated number.
Range The difference between the greatest and the least value in a set of data.
