8th grade atoms study list

TermDefinition
Protons positive charge of an atom ; in the nucleus
Electrons negative charge of an atom; electron cloud
Neutrons have no charge; in the nucelus
Valence electrons The outer most shell of electrons; just remove the one from the group number to find it.
Atomic number Same as the proton number or the number of protons in an atom
Element' s mass Add the number of electrons and neutrons
Calculating the number of neutrons Subtract the atom number from atomic mass
Element square (information) Element name, abbreviation, atomic number, mass
