| rational number | any number that can be expressed as a fraction |
| integer | positive and negative whole numbers, including zero |
| absolute value | the distance a number is from zero |
| percent | "out of 100" |
| equivalent fractions | fractions that are equal in value |
| opposites | two numbers that are the same distance from zero, but on different sides of the number line |
| prime number | a whole number whose only two factors are one and itself |
| composite number | a whole number with more than two factors |
| square number | the product of a whole number times itself |
| benchmark | a reference number used to estimate the size of other numbers |
| factor | one of two or more whole numbers that are multiplied to get a product |
| multiple | the product of a given whole number and another whole number |
| annex | the zero that is added to the beginning or end of a decimal |
| Least Common Multiple | the smallest multiple that two or more whole numbers share |
| Greatest Common Factor | the largest factor that two or more whole numbers share |
| prime factorization | a product of only prime numbers resulting in a desired number |
| divisor | a number that divides by a given number leaving a zero remainder |
| quadrants | the four regions in a coordinate plane separated by the x-axis and y-axis |
