| Density | The amount of matter present in a given volume of a substance. |
| Specific Gravity | The ratio of the density of a given liquid to the density of water at 4 degrees Celsius. Specific gravity has no units. |
| Measurement | A quantitative observation. |
| Scientific Notation | A number expressed as the product of another number between 1-10. |
| Units | Part of a measurement that tells us what scale or standards are being used to represent the results of the measurement. |
| English System | System of weights and measures based on the pound, foot, and second pint. |
| Metric System | A decimal system of weights and measures based on the meter and kilogram. |
| S.I. Units | Based on the metric system and the units derived from it. |
| Volume | Amount of 3 dimensional space that is being occupied by a substance. |
| Mass | Quantity of matter present in an object. |
| Significant Figures | The numbers recorded in a measurement. |
| Rounding Off | To reduce the number to fewer digits. |
| Conversion Factor | Ratio of the two parts of the statement that relates the two units. |
