Dimensional Analysis To change from one unit to another using the conversion factors
Fahrenheit Scale Used in engineering sciences. Boiling point = 212, Freezing point = 32, Normal body temperature = 98.6
Celsius Scale Used in physical and life sciences. Boiling Point = 100 Freezing Point = 0
Density The amount of matter present in a given volume of a substance.
Specific Gravity The ratio of the density of a given liquid to the density of water at 4 degrees Celsius. Specific gravity has no units.
Measurement A quantitative observation.
Scientific Notation A number expressed as the product of another number between 1-10.
Units Part of a measurement that tells us what scale or standards are being used to represent the results of the measurement.
English System System of weights and measures based on the pound, foot, and second pint.
Metric System A decimal system of weights and measures based on the meter and kilogram.
S.I. Units Based on the metric system and the units derived from it.
Volume Amount of 3 dimensional space that is being occupied by a substance.
Mass Quantity of matter present in an object.
Significant Figures The numbers recorded in a measurement.
Rounding Off To reduce the number to fewer digits.
Conversion Factor Ratio of the two parts of the statement that relates the two units.
