Term | Definition |
---|---|
linear regression | models the relationship between two variables in a data sttby producing a line of best fit |
line of best fit | the line that best approximates the linear relationship between two variables in a data set |
linear regression equation | the equation that describes the line of best fit |
significant digits | digits that carry meaning contributing to a numbers precision |
correlation coefficient | indicates how closely the data points form a straight line; the closer to 1 or -1 means the data is closer to forming a straight line; the closer to 0 means the data is far from represent a straight line |
standard form | of a linear equation is Ax + By = C where A, B, and C are constants and A and B are not both zero |
slope-intercept form | of a linear equation is y = mx + b where b is the y-intercept and m is the slope (rate of change) |
