Math 8 Unit 1 Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Rational Number A number that can be written in the form a/b, where a is an integer and b is any nonzero integer.
Irrational Number Numbers that cannot be written in the form a/b, where a is any integer and b is any nonzero integer.
Terminating Decimal A decimal that stops.
Repeating Decimal A decimal that repeats the same digit or group of digits forever.
Perfect Square Any number that shows the area of a square
Square Root A number that when multiplied by itself is equal to the given number.
Cube A number raised the 3rd power.
Cube Root The opposite of taking the cube of a number.
Perfect Cube Any number that shows the volume of a cube.
Real Numbers The set of numbers that together are rational and irrational numbers .
