5-D Process An organized method to solve problems
consecutive integers Integers in order without skipping any numbers
complement the set of all outcomes in the sample space that are not included in the event
compound events an outcome depends on two or more other events
desired outcomes a favorable outcome of a probability experiment.
dependent events the outcome of one event affects the other event
equivalent ratios ratios that have the some value when simplified
experimental probability number of successful outcomes divided by the total number of outcomes
independent events the outcome of one does not affect the outcome of another
mutually exclusive no outcomes in common
outcome possible result in an experiment
partition a collection of sub sets
percent a ratio that compares a number to 100
possible outcomes unique, and different outcomes
probability a number that represents how likely an event is to happen
probability tree useful for representing possible outcomes
probability table a diagram to represents probability outcomes for a sequence of two events
proportional relationship A relationship between two equal ratios.
ratio compares to quantities by division
sample space a collection of all possible outcomes of an event
scalene triangle a triangle with no congruent sides
simplify to write a less complicated expression with the same value
simulation conducting an experiment with an event that is unrealistic to perform
single event The chance of some event happening
systematic list a list created by following an organized process
theoretical probability a calculated probability based on the possible outcomes when each outcome has the same chance of happening.
variable a symbol used to represent one or more numbers
