| absolute value | the distance of a number from zero |
| additive identity | adding 0 to any number does not change the number |
| additive inverse | the number you need to add to the given number to get a sum of 0 |
| Distributive Property | For any a, b and c, a(b +c)= ab +ac |
| equivalent | equal in value |
| fraction greater than one | the numerator is larger than the denominator |
| four-quadrant graph | A 2-dimensional graph, that includes negative and positive values on both the x and y axes |
| integers | the set of numbers (...-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ...) |
| interval | a set of numbers between two given numbers |
| mixed number | a number that consists of an integer and fraction |
| rational numbers | numbers that can be expressed as a fraction |
| repeating decimal | a number that repeats the same sequence of digits forever from some point onward |
| scaling | the ratio between the length of the representation and the corresponding length of the actual object |
| terminating decimal | a number with a finite number of non-zero digits |
