absolute value | the distance of a number from zero |
additive identity | adding 0 to any number does not change the number |
additive inverse | the number you need to add to the given number to get a sum of 0 |

equivalent | equal in value |
fraction greater than one | the numerator is larger than the denominator |
four-quadrant graph | A 2-dimensional graph, that includes negative and positive values on both the x and y axes |
integers | the set of numbers (...-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ...) |
interval | a set of numbers between two given numbers |
mixed number | a number that consists of an integer and fraction |
rational numbers | numbers that can be expressed as a fraction |
repeating decimal | a number that repeats the same sequence of digits forever from some point onward |
scaling | the ratio between the length of the representation and the corresponding length of the actual object |
terminating decimal | a number with a finite number of non-zero digits |
