Integers The set of whole numbers and their opposites
Absolute Value The distance between a number and 0 on a number line
Opposites 2 numbers that are the same distance from 0 on a number line, but on opposite sides of 0
Additive Inverse The opposite of a number
Associative Property of Addition Changing the group of addends doesn't change the sum
Associative Property of Multiplication Changing the group of factors doesn't change the sum
Commutative Property of Addition Changing the order of addends doesn't change the sum
Commutative Property of Multiplication Changing the order of factors doesn't change the sum
Distributive Property To multiply a sum or difference by a number, multiply each number in the sum or difference by the number outside the parentheses. Then evaluate.
Order of Operations The order in which to perform operations when evaluating expressions with more than 1 operation
Rational Number A number that can be written as a/b where a and b are integers and b doesn't = 0
Whole Number 1,2,3,4,...
Terminating Decimal a decimal that ends
Repeating Decimal a decimal with a pattern that repeats
