Chapter 11 Vocabulary

What is a perfect square? A perfect square is the square of an integer.
What is a square root? A square root of a given number is a number that when multiplied by itself equals the given number.
What is an irrational number? An irrational number is a number whose decimal form neither terminates nor repeats.
What are the legs of a triangle? The legs of a triangle are the two shortest sides.
What is the hypotenuse? The hypontenuse is the longest side (opposite the right angle) of the triangle.
What is the Pythagorean Theorem? The Pythagorean Theorem is the sum of the squares of the lengths of the leges is equal to the square of the length of the hypotenuse.
