Adjectives

A word which modifies a noun.

TermDefinition
Descriptive Adjective A factual, objective description. e.g. size, shape, colour..
Evaluative Adjective An opinion based description, it is usually subjective. e.g. beautiful, funny,best.
Comparative Adjective All adjectives can be used in this form, and it is usually formed by adding -er to the end of an adjective. They are used to compare differences between two nouns. e.g most beautiful, faster, slower, higher.
Superlative Adjective These are usually used in a sentence when a subject is compared to a group of objects in the highest degree. e.g tallest, lowest, fastest, highest.
Pre-modifying A pre modifying adjective is an adjective that is placed before a noun to modify it. for example: The big cat.
post-modifying a post modifying adjective is placed after a noun to modify it. for example: The cat was big.
