Common Noun A noun which identifies objects or things, for example car, city, teacher
Concrete Noun A noun denoting a material object rather than an abstract quality, state, or action, e.g. dog, building, tree
Abstract Noun A noun which describes a state or an idea, for example happy, danger, truth
Proper Noun A name of a place, person or thing e.g. London
Collective Noun A noun that connotes to a group of things e.g. family and assembly
Descriptive Adjective Describes a nouns size or appearance e.g. large house, small man
Evaluative Adjective An opinion based on description
Pre- Modifying Adjective A word, especially an adjective or a noun, that is placed before a noun and describes it or restricts its meaning in some way In 'a loud noise', the adjective 'loud' is a pre- modifier
Post- Modifying Adjective A post positive or post nominal adjective is an attributive adjective that is placed after the noun or pronoun that it modifies
Comparative Adjective A comparative adjective is used to compare two things.
Superlative Adjective A superlative adjective is used when you compare three or more things. For example, looking at apples you can compare their size, determining which is big, which is bigger, and which is biggest.
