Math Unit 2
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Average Speed | as the rate of change in distance with respect to time. |
| Translation | Where a figure is slid from one position to another without turned. |
| Absolute Value | The distance a number is from zero on the number line. |
| Function | a relation in which each element of the domain is paired with exactly one element of the range. |
| Y- intercept | where a graph crosses the y- axis. |
| Horizontal | parallel to the plane of the horizon; at right angles to the vertical. |
| Constant Rate of Change | Zero rate of change. When the value of x increases, the value of y remains constant. That is, there is no change in y value and the graph is a horizontal line . |
| X- intercept | Where a graph crosses the x- axis |
| Vertical | at right angles to a horizontal plane; in a direction, or having an alignment, such that the top is directly above the bottom. |
| Slope intercept Form | An equation of the form y=mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y- intercept. |
| Increasing | The graph of a function goes up on a portion of its domain when view from left to right. |
| Point Slope Intercept | :the equation of a straight line in the form y − y1 = m(x − x1) where m is the slope of the line and (x1, y1) are the coordinates of a given point on the line. |
| Average Rate of Change | For a line, it was unique in the fact that the slope was constant. It didn't change no matter what two points you calculated it for on the line. |
| Decreaing | The graph of a function goes up and down on a portion of its domain when viewed from left to right. |
| Standard Form | Is Ax + By= C, where A greater or equal to 0, A and B are not both zero, and A, B, and C are integers with the greatest common factor of 1. |
