Generalize Place Value Understanding

TermDefinition
Place Value The position of a digit in a number that tells the value of the digit.
Millions In a number, the period of three places to the let of the thousands period.
Period A group of three digits, separated by commas, starting from the right.
Expanded Form A number written as the sum of the values of its digits.
Greater Than Symbol In a number sentence, a symbol that points away from a greater number or expression. (>)
Less than Symbol In a number sentence, a symbol that points toward a lesser number or expression. (<)
Rounding A process that determines which multiple of 10, 100, 1,000, and so on, a number is closest to.
Conjecture A statement that is believed to be true but has not been proven.
