Unit 1 Vocabulary

TermDefinition
PEMDAS Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication & Division, Addition & Subtraction
expression A group of mathematical symbols that represents a number, but never has a relation symbol or answer.
area The amount of surface inside a 2-dimensional shape.
square unit A unit used in measuring area.
2-dimensional Having area, but not volume; flat surface
3-dimensional Having length, width, and thickness; solid objects
volume A measure of how much space a solid object takes up.
cubic unit A unit used in measuring volume.
rectangular prism A prism with rectangular bases.
