| A positive times a positive is a ….? | Positive Ex: 4 x 5 = 20 3 x 2 = 6 |
| Same signs means... | Plus or positive |
| Different signs means... | Minus or negative |
| What does double signs mean? | When you have two signs next to each other. Examples: 5 - (-4) 9 + (-2) |
| What do you do with double signs? | Circle them, and change them to one sign, then re-write. Same signs= plus, different signs= minus |
| When adding and subtracting integers, how do you know what the sign of the answer should be? | The answer takes the sign of the bigger number. |
| When adding and subtracting integers, how do you know if you should really add or if you should really subtract? | 1. Simplify double signs 2. If they have different signs, you subtract the two numbers. 3. If they have the same signs, you add the two numbers. |
