Number Systems - 7th Grade Math

Absolute Value A number’s distance from zero on the number line
Additive inverse two integers that are opposite of each other; the sum of any number and its additive inverse is zero
Multiplicative inverse two numbers are multiplicative inverses if their product is 1
Integers the set of all whole numbers and their additive inverses (…-2,-1,0,1,2…)
Negative numbers all real numbers that are less than zero
Positive numbers all real numbers that are greater than zero
Rational numbers set of numbers that can be written in the form a/b, where a and b are integers and b does not equal zero
Repeating decimal a decimal in which a digit or set of digits repeat infinitely
Terminating decimal a decimal with a finite number of digits (ends with no remainder)
Zero pair a negative and a positive number that cancel each other (-1+1)
