Term | Definition |

Absolute Value | A number’s distance from zero on the number line |
Additive inverse | two integers that are opposite of each other; the sum of any number and its additive inverse is zero |
Multiplicative inverse | two numbers are multiplicative inverses if their product is 1 |
Integers | the set of all whole numbers and their additive inverses (…-2,-1,0,1,2…) |
Negative numbers | all real numbers that are less than zero |
Positive numbers | all real numbers that are greater than zero |
Rational numbers | set of numbers that can be written in the form a/b, where a and b are integers and b does not equal zero |
Repeating decimal | a decimal in which a digit or set of digits repeat infinitely |
Terminating decimal | a decimal with a finite number of digits (ends with no remainder) |
Zero pair | a negative and a positive number that cancel each other (-1+1) |
