Properties of real numbers

TermDefinition
Commutative Property same numbers but in a different order
Associative Property same numbers, same order but grouped differently with parentheses
Distributive Property multiplying an expression inside of parentheses by a number outside
Identity Property Adding zero or multiplying by one to keep the same number
Inverse Property adding the opposite or multiplying by a reciprocal to equal zero
Zero Property Multiplying by zero
14(0) = 0 Zero Property
10 + -10 = 0 Inverse Property
5(m + 2) = 5(m) + 5(2) Distributive Property
(a + b) + c = a + (b + c) Associative Property
6(1/6) = 1 Inverse Property
