TermDefinition
Context The content ideally telling who, what, where, when, why, and how.
Data Systematically recorded information in context.
Data Table Information organized into rows and columns.
Case One person or thing for which we have data.
Population All of the cases that we wish we knew about
Sample The group of persons or things from which we can actually obtain information.
Variable Holds information about the same characteristic for all persons of things studied.
Unit A quantity using a standardized measurement.
Categorical Variable Types of values that classify persons or things into separate groups.
Quantitative Variable Types of values that are measurements and always have units.
