Absolute Value A number's distance from zero
Composite A number made of more than 2 factors
Equivalent Equal in value
Exponential Notation A number written with a base and an exponent
Inequality A mathematical sentence that shows the relationship between quantities that are not equal.
integer Negative and positive whole numbers including 0
Percent Percent means parts per 100
Prime A number made of only 2 factors
Ratio A comparison of two quantities by division
Rational Numbers A number that can be written as a fraction, without a denominator of 0
Reciprocal Flipping the numerator and denominator of a fraction
Unit Rate A quantity that is one unit
Area The number of square units needed to cover a surface
Nets A two dimensional figure that can be folded to form a solid
Polygon An enclosed, many sided figure with straight lines
Prism Three dimensional figure made up identical ends and flat faces
Surface Area The sum of the areas of the faces of a 3D figure.
Vertex A corner or a point where lines meet
Volume The number of cubic units contained in a three-dimensional object
(algebraic) expression Numbers, symbols and/or operations groups together that show the value of something
Base A number that is raised to a power
Equation A number sentence that uses an equal sign
Exponent A number that indicates how many times the base is used as a factor
Variable A letter that takes the place of an unknown number
Mean The average of a set of numbers
Median The middle number when the numbers are arranged from least to greatest in a set of data
Mode The most repeated number
Range The difference between the greatest and the least value in a set of data.
