Sabre red apps and features

Sabre Red Workspace is the main desktop application used to access and work on the Sabre GDS system. The Sabre Red platform utilizes optimized technologies to make it easier than ever to build and manage travel reservations.
Sabre Red is designed for enhanced experience, performance, and control. It includes features such as: ##Point and click GDS functions ##Integration with external websites ##Cached content for faster loading times ##Graphical apps for managing reser
WINDOWS MENU BAR -it includes standard Windows functions, Sabre Red help and customization features, and alternate ways to access some of the booking tools.
FILE menu includes options to print and exit. EDIT menu includes options to copy and paste text from the Sabre GDS window. You can access these same options from the Tool Bar as well.
VIEW menu includes options to customize your screen layout. You can access some of these same options from the Tool Bar as well. TOOLS menu allows you to open various Sabre Red Booking tools. Usually, you will open the tools here from the Side Bar instea
The Options item at the bottom allows you to change the Language Settings and other options for the overall Sabre Red Workspace.
WINDOW menu allows you to switch between the different Sabre work areas. Usually, you will do so using the GDS Window instead.
HELP menu allows you to check for updates and receive help about the Sabre Red Workspace itself. For help about the Sabre GDS system, you will use the Format Finder tool instead.
CONTACT US menu allows you to send an email to the Sabre product support department.
LAUNCHER BAR -it provides access to external websites and applications. As an Amex Business Travel employee, you will not typically use these items. Please continue.
This is where you will do most of your work, and it will be the main focus of this training. Items here include the Tool Bar (at top), the Sabre System Work Area (blue GDS window), and the Helper Apps (on the right).
TOOL BAR -it includes shortcut buttons used to carry out common functions like changing the Sabre Work Area view, copying and pasting text, and printing.
WORK AREA -The blue window here is where you can make native Sabre GDS entries to retrieve travel data and manage reservations. This is also where responses will appear when you use the graphical Helper Apps on the Side Bar on the right.
Note: Sabre Red utilizes a hybrid approach. You will switch back and forth between graphical point and click functions, and making text entries in the blue Sabre System window.
Note the tabs atop the blue Sabre window, used to switch between the six Sabre System work areas. This makes it easy to multitask and move between different Sabre GDS sessions.
APPLICATION BAR -The buttons here are used to launch Sabre Red's graphical "Helper Apps". The reservations work you perform will be applied to the current Sabre work area.
POINT AND CLICK -tool panel opens, providing graphical menus for shopping flights, hotels, and cars. Again, the tool panel is associated with just the one work area, in this case Work Area C.
VA*1 -This entry displays the details for the flight in question including meals served, total elapsed time, and mileage. Take a moment to observe the response, then advance. OR Simply click the flight number to display the same function
Double click the FLIGHT NUMBER to display the seat map
Double click on the ASTERISK to assign seat
To exit the overall Sabre Red Workspace, you will click on the X button on the top right.

When you are done with the Encode/Decode tool, you will close it by clicking either the Cancel or X button.

Format Finder is a graphical, menu-driven application that gets launched via the Sabre Red Workspace environment.
Format Finder has a graphical interface and runs in its own window, outside the main work area. However, you can launch Format Finder from within the GDS window by: Pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Z Making the command HELP/. The HELP/ entry may incl

The meat of the Format Finder interface is located below the red navigation bar. It consists of three main components: Left side navigation Display area Right side navigation
The left side navigation area is now highlighted. It includes the other main functions (other than search) for browsing the help pages. The default tab here, Quick Formats, provides an expandable menu for browsing help pages about Sabre formats. Click

The final interface component is the right side navigation area. The default Favorites tab here lists any help pages that you have bookmarked. You can add up to 25 help pages here to access them more quickly. In the screen below, no favorites have been ad
The Search History tab presents a list of your most recent search terms. Once you start running some searches, this area will populate so can review your search history and/or click to re-run any of your previous search terms.

The icons here do the following: Change the font size for easier viewing. Bookmark the help page and add to your list of favorites. Email the contents of the help page to someone. Print out the help page.
A search is usually the quickest way to find relevant information in Format Finder. However, you also have the option to browse the available help pages via the left side navigation functions:

The Sabre Red "Point and Click" Helper App provides a graphical interface for shopping flights, hotels, and cars.
The "Point and Click" tool is designed to be simple and intuitive. At top are three tabs for different booking types: Air, Hotel, and Car. We will focus on the Air tab in this lesson, and the other tabs in the next two lessons.
Remember that you can double click the segment number of a booked flight to view flight details, double click the flight number to view a seat map, or double click the arrival city to display car or hotel availability for that destination. Please continue
Assigning a specific seat on a flight consists of 2 basic steps: 1.Display a seat map for the flight 2.Locate an open seat in the seat map and assign it Sabre Red provides point and click functions for both of the above steps.
To display a seat map in Sabre Red, you can double click on the flight number from a booked flight segment. There are two different styles of seat maps:
Standard Sabre Seat Maps - display within the blue Sabre System window Graphical Seat Maps - display within a separate web-style window

The "PNR Services" Helper App in Sabre Red provides a graphical interface for entering OSI and SSR requests into a PNR, including: Special meal requests Requests for assistance Wheelchair requests General airline OSI messages Frequent traveller numbe
You can verify that the meal request was added by making the Sabre *A entry to redisplay the PNR. Advance to see the response.
OSI messages are used to provide general information to the airline on your client's behalf. You can use the Sabre Red "PNR Services" tool panel to add OSI messages to a PNR. Advance for an example.
