Coordinate Geometry

SSC Math 8 Coordinate Geometry

TermDefinition
Transformation a change in the size or position of a figure
Rotation a transformation in which a figure is turned around a point
Reflection A transformation of figure that flips the figure across a line
Dilation A transformation that enlarges or reduces a figure
Scale Factor The ratio used to enlarge or reduce similar figures
Similar Figures Figures with the same shape but not necessarily the same size
Congruent Figures Figures having the same size and shape
Congruence Transformation A transformation that results in an image that is the same shape and the same size as the original figure
Translation A movement of a figure along a straight line
Image A figure resulting from a transformation
Center of Rotation The point about which a figure is rotated
