Uses for Por 1. To express gratitude or apology. Ex: Gracias "por" la ayuda. 2. Multiplication or division. Ex: Dos "por" dos son cuatro. 3. For frequency or proportion. Ex: Voy al restaurante cinco veces por semana (per week).
Uses for Por 4. Means of passage, or "through"/"along". Ex: Andamos por el parque. 5. When talking about quantities(sales exchange). Ex: El me dio diez dolares por el libro. 6. "On behalf of"/ "in favor of". Ex: No vote por nadie, meaning did not vote for anyone.
Uses for Por 7. To express lengths of time. Ex: Yo estudie por dos horas. 8. Undetermined or general time. Ex: One can see the estrellas por al noche. 9. Means of communication or transportation. Ex: Prefiero viajar por tren y hablar por telefono.
Uses for Por 10. When speaking of a person's image/how they're seen. Ex: Me tienen por loco (They take me for crazy). 11. I'll come "for" you. Do this errand for "you" 12. When followed by an infinitive action that's not yet completed. Ex: Le cena esta por cocinar.
Uses for Por 13. To express CAUSE or reason. Ex: El hombre murio por falta de agua. 14.
