What is the main belief in Shinto? the spirit of a deity dwells in the elements of nature. These elements include rivers, mountains, rocks, trees, animals, and water
What is a kami? A kami is the spirit of a deity that dwells in the elements of nature.
What most likely led the japanese to develop their nature-based beliefs? The awe of their natural wonders around them

What is the technical definition of animism? a religious belief that everything on earth is imbued with a powerful spirit, capable of helping or harming human needs.
What do animists believe? all objects: animals, trees, rocks, rivers, plants and people share the breath of life. All living things must live together in harmony and be treated with equal respect.
Prayers and offering are given to assure the goodwill of the spirits. Explain how a man making a drum from a tree might honor this belief of animism. He will explain to the spirit of the tree how its trunk will be used and asks permission to turn it into a drum. Before he plays, he speaks to the spirit of the drum
So, are they talking to the trees? No they are talking to the spirit of the living things
Why do animists dress up in colorful masks and costumes? How is the spirit related to this ceremony? They do it to take on the spirit of a particular god. during the ceremony the spirit is believed to enter the human body and give advice through the person's mouth.
Is Animism exclusive to itself? No it can be mixed with Christianity and Islam
What are Africa's three major religions? Christianity and Islam and traditional african religions
