Figurative Language

TermDefinition
Metaphor A comparison between two different things (objects, people, ideas etc.) that suggests they are the same.
Simile A comparison between two things using the words as or like.
Personification Descriptions of animals or objects that use human emotions, behaviours, or characteristics
Imagery The use of descriptive language to helps people to create pictures of what is being described in their mind
Alliteration To use two or more different words with the same first sound
Rhyme When two or more different words end with the same sound.
Repetition Using the same word two or more times in a sentence or a paragraph.
