Biological Evolution

homologous similar in position, structure and function
analogous comparison of two things based on them being alike in some way
evolution the theory that all the kinds of living things that exist today developed from earlier types
trait an inherited characteristic
ancestor a person from whom one is descended and who lived several generations ago.
paleontology is the study of plants and animals that lived millions of years ago.
genetics is the study of heredity, or how certain features pass from parents to their offspring, or young
embryology the branch of biology that studies the formation and early development of living organisms
anatomy the study of the structure of living things- the parts that form a living thing
heredity the passing on of characteristics (as the color of the eyes or hair) from parents to offspring.
