What process did Columbus and his followers begin? Exploration of the Americas.
What was the significance of Magellan's voyage? They were the first persons to circumnavigate, or sail around, the world. They could now map out the entire world and navigate it.
Why were most of the Spanish explorers drawn to the Americas? For gold - wealth, alternate trade routes, and expand their countries influence.
Why did the leaders of Pennsylvania asked for help from the leaders of the colony of Virginia? Many religious groups in Pennsylvania did not believe in fighting or war.
What prompted George Washington to attack first? A Native American Chief who liked the English who warned Washington that the French may be planning to attack the troops, so Washington decided to attack the French first.
Why did many African rulers participate in the Atlantic slave trade? Lured by profits African rulers delivered slaves to the Europeans in exchange for gold, guns, and other goods.
Why did Columbus set sail westward? Columbus was in search for new trade routes and land to claim.
Why did Pope lead a rebellion against the Spanish? He did not approve of Native Americans were being treated in the colonies.
What did Europeans mostly grow in their Caribbean colonies? Cotton and sugar.
What was the result of the French and Indian War? British defeated French, British seized control of eastern half of North America.
What were the conditions on board a slave ship? compact, disease-ridden/unsafe/unsanitary.
Why was the introduction of corn and potatoes so important to Europe and Asia? easy to grow anywhere, provided vital nutrients Easy to grow anywhere, provided vital nutrients.
What was the economic policy of mercantilism? A country's power is dependent on its wealth.
