| assonance | resemblance of sounds between syllables of nearby words |

| truncated sentence | when a sentence is cut off in the middle |
| icon | single object or person that represents complex ideas |
| intertextuality | reference to other texts within a text, either explicitly or implicitly |
| linear/non-linear text | the text occurs in chronological/non-chronological order |
| modality | high modality = forceful / low modality = gentle |
| semantic field | words in a short passage of text revolve around the same idea |
| circumlocution | using exaggeratedly long and complex sentences in order to convey a simple idea - leaves the reader grasping at the actual meaning for longer |
