Integers and the Coordinate Plane
| Term | Definition |

| Positive Numbers | a number greater than 0. |
| Negative Numbers | a number less than 0. |
| Opposites | the same distance from 0 but on different sides of 0. |
| Integer | the set of all whole numbers and their opposites. |
| Absolute Value | the distance the integers is from 0. |
| Coordinate Plane | two number lines in a plane that intersect at right angles. |
| Axes | the two number lines. |
| X-axis | the horizontal axis. |
| Y-axis | the vertical axis. |
| Origin | the point in the center where the axes intersect. |
| Coordinates | the numbers in an ordered pair. |
| X-coordinate | first number in the ordered pair. It tells you whether to go right or left. |
| Y-coordinate | second number in the ordered pair. It tells you whether to go up or down. |
