These set of words help you to better know poetry.

What type of poem has the rhyme scheme A A B B A? Limerick
What is a Ballad composed of? Quatrains
What is a quatrain? 4 line stanza in a poem
Two words put together that do not belong but have truth are called what? Oxymoron
In alliteration, what is repeated? The initial consonant sound
What is alliteration, assonance, consonance, oxymoron, paradox, and imagery called? Literary devices
The number of feet within a line of traditional verse is called? A meter
What does imagery use? The five senses (smelling, tasting, hearing, touching, seeing)
What is an explication? A complete and detailed analysis of a work of literature
A contradiction that is nonetheless true is called what? Paradox
What is an iambic pentameter? Short syllables followed by one long syllable
What is a repetition of consonant sounds in the middle or at the end of words? Consonance
What is unrhymed iambic pentameter? Blank verse
